“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
The world is full of fear and anxiety in our present times. People all around are desperately grasping at anything they can with the hopes of finding peace and a release from this crippling anxiety. But all of our attempts still leave us lacking the one thing our souls most desire- peace. This verse says that God is the One to whom we should run, cling to, long for. His peace guards our hearts and minds. His peace allows us to face each new day with thanksgiving and peace.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
The opposite of anxiety is peace. One definition of peace is freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. This verse gives us the answer on how to find the freedom for which our souls long. The answer is God. Because of His deep care and love for us, God bears our burdens and takes our anxieties and replaces them with peace- true peace that only comes from Him.
In this time when our world is full of fear and anxiety, cling to God our Father who gives us peace through His Son Jesus Christ who gave His life so that we can experience true life in Him.
