“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 1:7

Fear seems to occur in our lives, now more frequently than ever. Fear about our finances, fear about our health, fear about our jobs, fear for our safety, and the list goes on. No matter what area of our life, it seems easier and easier to fear. Fear is said to be a result of previous life events, losing control, or simply fear of the unknown. Although fear is a natural emotion and everyone fears something at some point in their lives, wouldn’t it be great to live life without fear?

God loves us so much that he gave us The Bible. It is the Revelation of Himself to us. Did you know that in Scripture, God says “Do not fear” approximately 365 times? That’s essentially one time a day. Why do you think God would say “Do not fear” that many times? Believe it or not, God knows our lives. From the moment we are born till the moment we die. God knew everything about you before you were born. He is familiar with the joy, the sadness, and also the fears that this life brings. God knows and God cares.

“…do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:25-26

You see, God didn’t create us and then leave us to fend for ourselves. Just as parents want their children to know that they are loved and cared for God does the same for us! We can rest knowing that God cares for all of his creation. When our fears seem the highest and threaten to overtake your joy, God wants you to run to Him. He says,

“Cast all your anxiety on Him for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.

Whether we are in the middle of what seems to be the biggest storm of our life, or we are more fearful than ever of the unknowns ahead, you can rest knowing God cares about you, by name!

Do you feel like you are living in fear?
